The Four Watches of the Night

Friday, July 10, 7pm - Saturday, July 11, 7am | July 10-11

Practice helps us pay attention to and appreciate our life as it appears in this moment - your shoe, your neighbor, the birds on the handrail, the difficult boss, the sidewalk under your feet, the moon in the night sky, all so worthy of your notice and care. All elements of you.

We are looking forward to sharing this night of concentrated practice with you!

July 10, 7pm -July 11, 7am

According to Buddhist tradition, the hours before the Buddha’s enlightenment were divided into four watches or periods of the night. During each watch, the Buddha experienced a specific set of insights or revelations. During the last watch, as the morning star appeared on the horizon at dawn, the Buddha entered Nirvana. This retreat is brief and profound. If you haven’t had the experience of sitting through the night, with the earth, the stars, the breezes, in company with the sangha this is an experience not to be missed. 7pm – 7am.
